#448 In this podcast episode, Guy talked with Dr. Edith Ubuntu Chan about blindfold perception, telepathy, and the possibility that expanded human abilities were innate capacities that had become dormant and could be reawakened through joyful, methodical training. Dr. Edith explained how her children’s program had brought parents into the process so the whole family could create a coherent environment for these abilities to open. She also shared how blindfold perception had become a form of “telepathy 101,” helping people move from guessing to deeper intuition, inner knowing, and eventually confident perception beyond the physical eyes.
The conversation also explored how this work had supported focus, self-awareness, coherence, and discernment, especially for children who had been labeled with dyslexia or ADHD. By the end, Dr. Edith reflected on her own path from Harvard, software, Chinese medicine, Te, and mystical experience into helping people embody a more luminous, coherent, and awakened version of human potential.

TRANSCRIPT
Please note, this is an automated transcript so it is not 100% accurate.
Dr. Edith:
We’ve discovered that this blindfold perception training, in fact, is actually telepathy 101. These are innate, natural, normal capacity of the human being that have laid dormant and undiscovered and atrophied. We’ve done that with these expansive abilities starting with children, and now with adults, these really beautiful, methodical sequence of progressions that we’ve developed to rapidly activate and reawaken these possibilities, and we’re seeing that everybody can do this.
Guy:
Dr. Edith, welcome to the podcast, my lovely. I am so excited.
Dr. Edith:
Thank you so much for having me, Guy. Um, I’m so moved to be here. You have the most incredible guests, Guy. There are so many beautiful consciousness podcasts out there, but you are really, like, the crème de la crème. The
Guy:
Oh
Dr. Edith:
guests that you have, the way that you hold these conversations, and also how deeply attuned your audience is. So I’m excited that we can just get right into, ’cause this is a very well-attuned, well-educated audience that you have. Thank you for
Guy:
Yeah. And I, I appreciate the kind words. I always say m- my podcast has been one of my greatest teachers. It really has. And the, the amount of versions of myself coming up against myself and, and s- sitting down with people and developing awareness and how to deeply listen and hold a heart-centered space and, and let it go, it’s, it’s incredible. But, um, synchronicities has brought us together and, you know, what you do is incredible. I remember when I first went on your website, my, my jaw was like, you know, like a g- like a goldfish just open going, “Oh, finally somebody is really st- uh, bringing this to the world in, in a, in a very clear manner.” Um, which is what resonated with me is obviously having a six-year-old daughter and a two-and-a-half-year-old son about how you are teaching children.
I mean, this is just one spoke in, in a vast array in your wheel. Uh, like I just wanna say that outright. But y- you know, you’re teaching children to, to not only see be- beyond their eyes, but to really lean into and develop their intuition, which starts asking bigger questions as well. And, you know, my daughter Ava went through your four-week program. I mean, she’s only six, you know, and by week two she was looking at zen cards through a Zoom screen with her blindfolds on and being able to describe everything to, to one of your facilitators, Erin. I mean, I’m like, holy moly. I mean, I’ve seen it on documentaries, I’ve seen it, but I’m witnessing it with my own eyes. So this begs the question just to go in, what, what’s going on and what have we told ourselves that we’re not capable of? Uh, ’cause there’s so much more.
Dr. Edith:
What’s going on? What’s going on is that it’s almost like we live on a planet that they think that human beings are only land animals and we can’t swim, and so nobody tries to swim. And then some of us say, “Hey, it looks like it could be fun.” And people go, “No, no, no. Only fish can swim. Dolphins can swim. Human cannot swim.” And you’re like, “But maybe we could give it a go and dip our toes in.” And then we learn to blow bubbles. We float on our back. We do a little doggy paddle. And eventually, some of us are having so much fun, this whole beautiful world of richness and new possibilities open up to us, and we’re like, “Hey, come over.
Have some fun with us.” And there are still those of us that are so stuck in our old thinking that we refuse to open ourselves to a more rich and beautiful world, whereas others, hopefully most people that listen to this podcast, say, “Hmm, I’m curious. I wonder. give it a go.” And so then we start exploring, and the doggy paddling turns into freestyle breaststroke, stroke, and some of us decide to do, um, scuba diving or surfing or canoeing. All of these beautiful possibilities now open up to us. And it’s the same thing with these expanded perceptive abilities. These are innate, natural, normal capacity of the human being that have laid dormant and undiscovered and atrophied. And we have this joyful, methodical way, just like a good swim instructor would have a joyful, methodical way to invite you into the practice of swimming. And so we’ve done that with these expansive abilities starting with children, and now with adults, these really beautiful, methodical sequence of progressions that we’ve developed to rapidly activate and reawaken these possibilities, and we’re seeing that everybody can do this
Guy:
Have you seen adults do this too, or is it really gotta be started with children? I kinda know the answer, but I just wanna throw it out there for everyone
Dr. Edith:
Well, it’s, I think we’re reaching an incredible hundredth monkey effect. Because it used to be that the adults would have to train for months or years just to have a little glimmer of like a tiny pinhole of opening to perceive past their blindfolds. So what happened for us is that as we started developing the children’s work, as you know, we do a very different approach than has been available, which previously was mostly like you drop off your child at a facilitator’s place, you get 10 or 12 lessons. They don’t usually want the parents in the room, partly maybe because they were secretive about the techniques, but mostly for good reason, which is that energy has to be so coherent as you experience, Sky, right? As we open these beautiful possibilities, we enter into this co-resonant field together with the children, and we play these joyful intuition games with them.
But if your, energy isn’t attuned in the right way, if the environment isn’t harmonious and coherence, it could be distracting to the child. So it’s hard for their abilities to open, or it might open and shut again, open and shut again. So, you know, traditionally it was understood, well, this is such a delicate skill of opening these abilities that the environmental factors, the energy coherence of the facilitator is a huge factor at play. So it’s like better not to complicate things and keep the, the parents out of the picture. what we did was we thought, if we brought the moms and dads deeply into the process? So that’s why our kids program is the first week is just moms and dads in the community getting coaching together with us.
The core four weeks we work together with moms and dads co-facilitating the children together. The last week is just focused on moms and dads again. And in between, we have all of this, as you experience, coaching, support. We’re all in community going through this journey together. So it’s actually more about supporting the moms and dads than it is working with the children in some ways. Because we did it like this, to our delight and surprise, the children are activating way faster this way than the old way that it used to be done, which is like drop off your child, private lesson one-on-one with the facilitator, and the parents aren’t there. So in this way, the whole household, the whole family dynamic gets into this beautiful coherence.
And the moms and dads, as you experience, Guy, the first moment as your child starts to activate and start to open, the first time your child is getting 10 colors in a row correct, the first time they start reading or seeing shapes correctly, the first time they start expanding and they’re seeing like behind their head- And so on, right? Like, that is such a beautiful, delightful experience, almost like the first time that your child goes, um, “Mama” or “Dada,” or the first time your child is walking across the room is so special and delightful, you know?
So in this way, we get the whole family into this beautiful, rich experience together. And then gradually the children have been telling the moms and dads, “Hey, Mom, Dad, I can teach you how to do this too. It’s easy and it’s fun.” So this is, I’m ta- making a very long story very short of years of development and hundreds of families, and the children are starting to train their moms and dads. And so what evolved was the moms and dads started having the beginnings of their blindfold vision mindsight start opening up. And the, the parents in our community, now we have 350 families that have been through our program. in our family, in our community are just so delighted by this possibility that maybe adults can do it. we started all exploring whether or not we can put together adult workshops. And it was around this time that the telepathy tapes came out. You know, I trust you, you’ve heard about the telepathy.
Guy:
yeah. With Kai
Dr. Edith:
And your, and your audience probably too. So this time, this really special autistic savant telepathic teenager reached out. And the way she reached out was really special. She reached out to a mutual friend in our network telepathically over and over and over again. This gentle woman named Victoria, who is a very non-pushy person, but she kept texting me and calling me and emailing me and voice noting me. And she said, “There’s a telepathic teenage savant young woman that is autistic, and she’s been really repeatedly asking me to connect you guys.” And so, so Victoria reached out to Lidu’s mom, her name is Dahlia Burgoyne. Dahlia said, “Really? You’re getting these telepathic messages from my daughter? Huh, let me ask her.” And so what on the letter board was, “I need to connect with Dr. Edith, ’cause she’s a lady that will help bring telepathy into the world.
I need to talk to her.” So Victoria sends me this message, I, at that time, I was just focused on, I was a Chinese medicine doctor, happily liv- living my life, homeschooling my children. I was coaching holistic families on a more, what I feel is more beautiful, attune way of working with children, education, parenting paradigms, and so on. So that was my passion outside of Chinese medicine and Qigong practice. I was working with children in their mindsight blindfold vision opening together with my colleague, Bohdan, and just having a fun time. I thought, “What, what does that have to do with telepathy?” At that time, I di- hadn’t made the connection yet. Lidu reaches out in this really synchronistic way, then I connect with Lidu’s mom, Dahlia.
And then when we connected, I discovered that it turns out she was to be the world-renowned expert in bringing blindfold vision mindsight to adults are blind, to adults that don’t actually have eyeballs. That was what she was developing. So we started connecting. It felt like instant recognition, like soul sisters. So at that time, Dahlia was just beginning to refine this protocol of bringing mindsight blindfold vision to blind adults. And I thought, “Oh my goodness, the synchronicities here.” So we started sharing notes about how she’s working with adults and how we’re working with the hundreds of children and families and, and it was all around that time that many of the children were starting to activate their moms and dads in our community.
And the moms and dads are telling me, “Dr. Edith, do you have adult trainings?” And so there were some wonderful pioneers at this field of mindsight that were offering trainings to adults, and their trainings were usually six to 10 days long, and with the encouragement of, um, some months of consistent training to start opening the ability to see completely blindfolded. So I shared this with all of the community, and repeatedly the moms and dads kept saying, “But I’m a busy mom, homeschooling my children, running a business. How am I gonna get six to 10 days, plus traveling, plus months of practice? That doesn’t sound like it’s so doable for me.” So what happened at that moment is I reach out to listen to her protocols for working with adults, and I said, “I can just feel like you’re gonna take my abilities to another level.” I had had the beginnings of my mindsight opening because my child was me. He was like, “Mama, let me teach you how to do it. Let’s play, let’s play, let’s play.” so when I flew out to meet Dahlia to explore mindsight with her, within two short days she opened my abilities to a whole different level.
I was able to see really far across the rooms and open my perception much bigger. I got multiple openings. And not only that, I discovered the genius of how she cultivated the abilities, not just with the seeing part, but the intuitive touch sense, intuitive hearing sense, intuitive smell sense, intuitive taste sense, and the intuitive knowing sense. How those senses can all scaffold together to awaken and essentially create an intuitive synesthesia state in the human being so that then sometimes the touch sense can, can actually link up and, and strengthen the seeing sense or the hearing sense and the touch sense together can support each other. They create some kind of a scaffolding abilities that boost the other abilities. Eventually, you get to the point where see, sense, touch, smell, feel, know all at the same time. Does that make sense?
Guy:
It does. It does
Dr. Edith:
slow it down and cultivate each of these skills one at a time through methodical and very refined progressions of practices. And obviously, as you become more intuitive s- intuitively synesthetic, you have this richer tapestry of your experience of life. And then when you get two people who are open in these ways, to communicate by mere language and words seems too clunky and archaic, and it just naturally evolves into telepathy communication. So we’ve discovered that this blindfold perception training, in fact, is actually telepathy 101.
Guy:
That’s amazing. And a question I got, ’cause I’ve been talking to people ’cause I, I put a little video up with Ava with a blindfold on. Like, I’m not, I don’t put too much of my children on social p- social media, but she had a mask on and stuff and, and everything, but she was doing the colors. And of course then everyone’s that follows me that’s been to our retreats and our events and know me are reaching out going, uh, or when I see them. And one of the common questions that was reoccurring though from an adult m- mind, which I’d love you to address, is I- in some ways it sounds simplistic, but apart from the adventure of, of experiencing and learning these gifts that we have, why would somebody wanna do it in the w- in terms of how it would impact their life? Do you, do you know what I’m saying?
Dr. Edith:
is a really beautiful question, and I’m gonna answer it a couple of different ways. The first thing is, who is the version of us that needs to know that? That would be the deeper question I would ask. Because the, the reason why we need to know that is, in my experience, is because we grew up in an old education paradigm that fed us so much boring BS. Sorry, I hope the, the language is.
Guy:
You can swear as much as you want, as much as you want
Dr. Edith:
you know, going to school we’re like, “What is this pointless stuff I have to memorize and regurgitate?” And very often they’ll have to tell us, “Well, it’s because it’s going to be useful for life.” So as a common question we a- get asked, like, what is the usefulness of this? Like, will it help me get into university and get a good job? And
Guy:
Right. Yeah
Dr. Edith:
train of thought? So I encourage the listeners to notice is the you that asks such a question. is the motivation behind asking such a question versus just the fact that the most beautiful, rich experiences of life, as you and I have probably both experienced, happens when we follow our hearts, follow our joys, follow our passion, and that takes us into a field of miracles and synchronicities over and over again. And part of this flow that we’re in, the Blindfold Vision, MindSight Blindfolded Perception Training is so delightful, so joyful, so fun, is valuable in and of itself. And of course, there are many byproducts. It’s actually a very advanced meditative coherence training that is camouflaged as fun and games.
So it’s like a joyful game-like form of meditation that quickly taps us into a super coherent flow state, and we get instant biofeedback because the windows of perception will get brighter and clearer and brighter and clearer if we’re in a joyful, coherent state. we’re in a bad mood, if we’re tired, we’re d- distracted, we’re overthinking, stressed out, the windows of perceptions will dull down or shut down completely. So in a way, it’s a type of biofeedback training too that teaches us when we’re in our coherent flow state or when we’re distracted from that state, So when we’re in the super coherent flow state, we are a more authentic, attune, and aligned version of ourselves. So you tell me, what are the benefits of that, right?Like, what aspect of your life will that not touch and benefit?
Guy:
No, exactly, exactly. I was only having this c- I only literally put out a solo podcast this morning around, um, surrender and synchronicities and when you’re attuned to life and, you know, you come up against those limiting versions of yourself and when you, when you transmute that into something expansive, l- life changes, things open up for you and, and you’re, you’re actually focusing on the things that, that nourish your heart and soul and not just the, the, the conditioned mind. And life opens up in so many beautiful ways. I mean, my life is unrecognizable to what it was 20 years ago, you know, from the guy that grew up in the valleys of Wales, and it’s, it’s from that. So I get excited. That’s why I was like with what’s possible, i-i-it’s … Everything becomes an adventure. It truly does.
Dr. Edith:
Yeah. And,
Guy:
does.
Dr. Edith:
I think it’s, it’s helpful to share some concrete, concrete stories and benefits because, um, you know, speaking in theories, it’s, uh, the, the thing about this work is that it’s so tangible and it lands. It gets instantly integrated and embodied because the feedback is so palpable and tangible. You know? So, so when we do these practices, it’s this instantaneous feedback. I’m in this state of being, and then you’re … What you’re really learning in these is a little bit about the blindfolded seeing, but mostly it’s about learning to discern when I’m in my monkey mind guessing or overthinking state, what does that look like and feel like? When I’m attuned to my inner knowing, what does that look like and feel like? So as a byproduct of getting really well-honed in discerning those skills, um- What happens as a byproduct is that our children te- and families tell us that academics skyrocket. Many children that have diagnosis of dyslexia, when they put on the blindfold and once they get to the level where they’re actually reading blindfolded, like, so it often progresses from seeing colors to seeing big shapes to seeing smaller shapes to seeing more refined, and then they can start reading.
There’s a progression there, right? When they get to that point, it’s very common that our children that have a official dyslexia diagnosis, their dyslexia goes away when they’re reading blindfolded. They read fluently. The children that have so-called ADHD diagnosis, very often we are noticing that it’s because these children have expansive attunement. They haven’t had the support to hone that intuitive awareness and focus their attention and mind and their intention on one thing at a time. So we’re playing these games, and we go, “In front of you is this color. To your side, what color is it? And over here, what about behind your back? What about under your table?” We’re playing these games, but we’re training the skill of honing their vast, expansive awareness and tune- attunement to the whole field of information and how to hone it to one thing at a time as a superpower that they cultivate and strengthen. And we do it in such a fun way that it just, like, engages them to wanna keep playing, keep playing, keep playing.
So instead of the, the conventional thinking, which is to think of so-called H- ADHD as some kind of a disorder, we like to think of ADHD as, like, attention dialed into higher dimensions, you know? then, but then it requires skill to hone that and channel that awareness into very intentional focus so that you can see through walls. You can attune to higher guidance. You can download beautiful art, beautiful music. You learn how to attune your channels to receive the certain channels of information command because that’s a muscle that requires some exercising so that the pure potential becomes a type of superpower that you can turn into a beautiful gift in your life.
Guy:
It’s amazing. We got archaic systems and a new world emerging, and things need to change. I, you know, it, it’s evident. But what, like, w- talk to me, ’cause when, when I met you, one of your children came out and you just sat next to you, put the blindfold on, and you just give him a Rubik’s Cube, and off they went. You remember? And I, and, and I think w- within a few, within a few minutes it was done. And, you know, I could have a Rubik’s Cube right there I’ve never done once, right? And through, through memorization, through pattern, I don’t know. Ag- I just, it’s just like when I’m using my mind. What was happening there in that moment? Is that from a, a knowing space? H- or is that th- just they can see the Rubik’s Cube, so they know, you know? It was like, holy moly
Dr. Edith:
child, just like many boys his age, just one day decided to learn how to play, solve a Rubik’s Cube, starting with a two-by-two, then three-by-three, and then,
Guy:
Right
Dr. Edith:
then concurrent with that, we have the blindfold vision ability. So one day it was like, “Oh, what if I do it the Rubik’s Cube blindfolded?” And so yeah, that’s… It, uh, you get to a point with the blindfold vision where s- ability to see through the blindfold is as stable, as good as your physical eyes. So many people say, “Is this intuition training?” Is it intuition? answer is kinda like yes and no, because most people think of intuition as kind of like and maybe you’re 60%, 70%, 80% accurate, something like that. So the journey we go is from guessing to intuitive hunch to more and more confidence to the point of knowing and seeing with 100% certainty. You get to the point where it’s 100%. It’s not 95% even, there’s a journey of practice and, and exercising the muscles of this ability to see until it gets to 100%. So when you get there, you’re literally just seeing through the blindfold and it’s every bit as confident as your regular eyes
Guy:
Amazing. What do you think the human being is capable of then? Of, or no, or w- because when I look at this and, and, and I’ve had my own visceral experiences of energy, and I feel things opening up, and unusual things happen in my reality, and it’s like, wow, this is more like Play-Doh than it is concrete. A- as, uh, my journey progresses, and I wonder about then if we start to lean into telepathy, starting to lean into seeing through walls, remote viewing, all these seem to be much more tangible, that there is a, a field beyond space and time that we’re all plugged into, and that we’re actually using the field to communicate.
Dr. Edith:
Yeah.
Guy:
Y- when you look at all, you know, sort of different texts and ancient mythologies and ascended masters and people of inhuman form that have walked the Earth, you’ve heard of levitation then. You know, Jesus walking on water, turning water into wine. There’s all these kind of things that are, are written down, and I’m like, “Well, maybe there’s a lot of truth in all this. We just, we’ve just forgotten who we are.” I’m standing here right now in Lake Taupo in a beautiful retreat space, and there’s a vast difference between an intellectual experience and passive listening to a fully embodied lived experience, ’cause that’s what retreats can do. They can help you land, start to truly reconnect to yourself, to others, to nature, and to spirit as well. There’s so much in it. That’s why we created Live in Flow, and that’s why we are so passionate about getting this work out there and bringing people together. If you wanna find out more when our next retreat or event is coming up, just check out the link below. And now, back to the podcast
Dr. Edith:
I was, um, wanting to share a bit more about our adult trainings because it addresses a lot more what you’re talking about. And so in our adult trainings that I’ve, um, co-created together with Dalia Burgoyne, we distilled the experience down to just a three-day retreat, and we just did our sixth one as At the time of this recording, I just came out of our sixth retreat that we’ve done together. So in these adult trainings, which is a little bit different from our children’s training, we not only do the blindfolded seeing activities, but we do blindfolded hearing, blindfolded smell and taste and touch, and these other intuitive senses.
All the intuitive senses, we give a, um, opportunity to wake up these senses, and we’re sticking things on the wall and so on. And one of the activities that we sometimes sprinkle in is to take a, a cup of water that has regular water pH, and we can see … We s- test the pH, and we see if we can make it more acidic or more alkaline. And repeatedly, we do. So this just seems like a natural human ability, too, and maybe we’re not all at Jesus’s level yet. But there’s an aspect of this that, that- That seems to be normal part of our human ability that is simply dormant, maybe atrophied, ’cause we haven’t given it the attention to cultivate it. You know, so that I don’t know that there are limits, Guy. We’re just having fun playing with the expansive possibilities. But I would like to into this conversation that ultimately it’s not about any of these abilities, is it? It’s like your ego can get into a whole loop of like, “Oh, I’m so good at blindfold vision.
I’m so good at changing the pH of water. I’m so good at telekinesis or sticking things on the wall or spoon bending.” And there’s a reason that sages of all different traditions have always warned about being too hooked into these superpower abilities. And so my, I’d like to think my contribution to the conversation is to normalize these abilities so much to say that, yeah, they’re kinda special and they’re not special at all. There’s no reason for our egos to get all hooked into, because actually it’s just like swimming. Everyone can access these abilities, and they’re a natural byproduct on our journey of evolution and growth. The more we cultivate our love, our flow, our inner coherence, these things just express themselves as byproducts.
And we can have fun with them, but the moment that you get too, like, hooked into trying really hard to do it, that’s when you lose your inner coherence, and paradoxically, that’s when these abilities can become weaker and weaker, know? So of these abilities as expressions of a deeper inner state, that’s what we’re playing with. And then you start experiencing that life is full of miracles and joy and love and synchronicity. And using the spoon bending or sticking things on the wall or the, all these other mind-matter interactions, the ability to perceive blindfolded, using these as basically practice partners to keep cultivating your inner state.
Guy:
Yeah, no, beautiful. And you can apply that really to most aspects of life, isn’t it? Look how many people get hooked into money or a career or work or whatever it might be, and, and that becomes the thing. And, and the, the missing, missing the p- the point, the journey of it, and the, the growth that comes from that
Dr. Edith:
and I think a huge piece of what’s going on with all these intense changes that are happening right now is that what is everyone hungry for? is changing fast right now. It’s so dizzying. It’s the year of the fire horse, and it’s just like every day there’s intense things going on around us all the time. so I think the most valuable skill is this ability to stay in your center, in your inner coherent state, and also truth discernment, to attune to the truth meter within. Because the world will tell you a lot of things. There are a lot of different storylines and narratives out there, and to have this capacity to attune to what feels closer to truth, what feels further from truth, and to see through the BS and lies out there, I, I don’t know what other skill is more important to cultivate as a human being in these times
Guy:
Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. Where, where did your journey start with all this then, navigating? ‘Cause I look at your, you know, your bio and stuff, and it’s like, holy moly, you’ve done a lot. And the, the, the progression. Have you always been interested in, I guess, consciousness and spirit and
Dr. Edith:
did I
Guy:
like-
Dr. Edith:
that I am today? Um, yeah, I,
Guy:
I, I, or, or the normal person. Isn’t it the normal person?
Dr. Edith:
is the normal, I suppose, amongst these, these communities. I just, I, yeah, I love that. We can just… This is normal. This is to be expansive in our awareness is actually normal. I love that. Um, I often, a, a, a saying that’s been coming through is like, “Hey, it turns out we’re all wizards. We need to stop pretending to be muggles around here,” you know? So, um, journey kind of started when I was four, actually. When I was a little girl growing up in Hong Kong, my dad had this horrible back pain, and my sister had an ankle sprain that was always swollen, and they went to all these doctors with fancy lab coats and pieces of paper on the wall, and nobody could help.
And one day somebody said, “There’s this Qigong master, and maybe give him a try. And don’t know, he doesn’t charge very much, so even if it’s a scam, you won’t be out too much money. I mean, just, just give it a go.” I remember as a four-year-old, I was dressed in a matching velour warm-up suit, and our whole family went to this Qigong healer’s place. And, um, I saw this guy with one session healed my dad’s back pain, and my sister’s swollen ankle was not swollen anymore. And I remember telling all the adults, “What are we doing wasting our time going to all these people with fancy papers on the wall when the guy with one session of Qigong heals us?” And then I said, “When I grow up, that’s what I wanna be.” everybody said, “Oh, that’s sweet, little girl, but you’re a girl. You can’t do that. You have to usually be a boy, an apprentice under a master. You can’t go to school. You have to just be an apprentice, and hopefully when you’re an older man, then they’ll, like, pass the family lineage down to you,” and so on.
It was basically told to me after months and months of me trying to learn how, you know, how can I learn about Qigong? How can I become that when I grow up? later, it was like, to stop talking about it. It’s not possible.” So just like other children, I used to see through the ceiling into the cosmos, and orbs would visit as a little girl. And I remember no… Like, why doesn’t everybody else talk about this? It’s so interesting. What’s going on that I can see geometries and light patterns I can penetrate through and see the stars and the cosmos? Uh, how come other people don’t know what I’m talking about? It was confusing to me. And so I said, “Oh, I w- I should just be an astronaut when I grow up. Then I can figure out what’s going on up there.” And so all the adults said, “Yes, that’s great. That’s much better than trying to become a Qigong healer. So much more practical. You’ll make a good living doing it,” and so on. So- They actually were very open-minded in their own way. My mom, my dad, the adults around me, they thought, “Well, even though you’re a girl, you could be good at math, you could be good at engineering.
Just be good at math and engineering, and someday you could maybe become an astronaut.” So I thought, “All right, I’ll just be good at math and science and engineering.” And so fast-forward, I end up going to Harvard and getting a applied mathematics degree. And when I graduated, there was so many job opportunities in software and technology, so I ended up having a career in software technology that moved me to San Francisco Bay Area. And It turns out I was quite good at that work. I was getting employee of the year award, I was getting many promotions, and there was this one moment where I got invited to this This meeting with the board members, the CXOs of this software company. I thought, “Wow, I’ve made it. My hardworking immigrant parents are so proud of me.
I graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University with a good degree. I have a great job. I’m getting promoted. Why am I not happy? I should be so proud and so happy.” But I was, um, catching colds and flus all the time. I was inflamed. I had digestive problems. I had horrible skin and acne. I was sick a lot, and… But here I am, so successful, right? So I walk into this meeting with these board members and CXOs thinking, “I’ve made it. I’m so successful in my budding career.” And it was like the record player just came to a screeching halt. As soon as I looked around the room, had this sudden realization that I was living the wrong life. I looked around and I saw all these people. They’re kind, well-intentioned people, but I thought none of them look particularly fulfilled. all look kind of inflamed and very stressed out and a little bit angsty, and I don’t want to be like any of these people when I grow up So in that moment, I had a flashback to four-year-old little Edith and the Qigong healer. And
Guy:
Hmm.
Dr. Edith:
Right after that m- that day, I just went back to my desk. I started researching Chinese medicine, Qigong. I’m living the wrong life. I need to just quit my job and go back to the life that I was meant to live. And so to the shock and surprise of my hardworking immigrant family, I just said, “I’m dropping everything. I’m going to become a starving graduate student and study Chinese medicine and practice Qigong. I don’t wanna do that software stuff.” And it took about 10 years before my family came around to accepting that I’d made that very dramatic that they felt like was like, “What? You know how hard we worked to immigrate to America and get g- get you to such an amazing education and all of that.”
And I’m so grateful to this day, of course. But, um, they didn’t understand… Actually, I didn’t deeply understand until, in hindsight, how all these seemingly circuitous paths in our lives eventually cohered together. now I understand that, having an engineering mindset is so helpful in the consciousness, metaphysics, human potential space as a bridge builder to, to give methodical, mature rigor um, to how we cultivate the experience of these expansive states of being. Like, the mathematical rigor and the engineering mindset and the pattern recognition is so helpful for us to take the woo out of this field and create a grounded, tangible understanding of the metaphysics and the direct experiencing. How do we develop methodology so that this, all of this work becomes really grounded, integrated, tangible, and practical for everybody? You know? So, so I’m so grateful for that. But I think so far I’ve shared, like, there’s like a three-part story. I hope it’s not too long. Part one or scene one is four-year-old Edith. Scene two, I change my career to Chinese medicine. And the final chapter of how… What really informs everything that I do to this day is when I started Chinese medicine school… know that you love to practice Qigong too, Guy, and, um, I think there’s probably a lot of your audience knows about Qigong, but maybe just as an introduction.
Guy:
it please. Yeah
Dr. Edith:
Okay. Yeah, so in Chinese medicine school we study all different aspects, but it’s a beautiful requirement of Chinese medicine school that you not only have the head knowledge of meridians and acupuncture and Eastern med-medicine and Western medicine and herbs and pharmacology- We had to do a lot of memorizing and regurgitating to pass all the exams. my favorite was that we had Qigong classes where we practice practices. So the Qigong practice is the cultivation of your energy from the inside out. means energy, usually we translate it just energy, and Gong means to work with something. And since all of life is energy, when you’re consciously working with the energetics of your life, you could say that everything in life is Qigong.
But the way that Qigong is defined is basically whenever you’re doing deep breathing practice and really focus on your breath practice. And you also have a focus, attention, and intention in that practice synchronized with the breathing. And then there’s something you’re doing with your physicality, a certain posture, seated, standing, movement, mudras, different positions that assist in a certain flow of the energetics. When you combine these three elements together using your attention and intention to guide the flows of the energies and cultivating it synchronized with a breathing practice, that’s Qigong. So you could do Qigong practice all the time, washing dishes or folding laundry or balancing your checks or making Excel spreadsheets, you know, attune and aware with the energetics, with your breath, with your physiology.
That’s Qigong. So every time you practice, of course, it’s always a win. always beautiful to practice breath awareness, honing your attention and intention, and becoming aware of your body and your physiology. But there was this one particular Qigong class. Now, I loved the Qigong classes so much that I continued to practice with a teacher in our Chinese medicine school when she taught some advanced classes outside of school. So there was this one Qigong class where she guided us to this meditative state, and we went deeper and deeper and deeper. Somehow I went so deep that all of a sudden the whole thing just went it just exploded. This whole reality exploded, and I experienced myself the size of the cosmos, like trillions of pieces of love and light No physicality, no time, no space, and I’d never had any reference point for something like this ’cause at that point I was so young, I hadn’t read a single metaphysical book or anything.
It just was the experience of it. Somehow I knew that I returned home to our natural state. Somehow comparatively speaking, it felt so much realer than this reality with the physicality that I thought, “Oh, wow, I went home.” And teacher had said, “In the meditative state, you can ask a question. Go ahead and bring a question into this meditation and see what answers you get.” So I’m in this field of pure unconditional love, so much beauty, so much peace, so much blissfulness. There are not really words to articulate the intensity of love that I was experiencing. But I had this lingering question that I had brought into that meditation, and the answer came in this, like, expansive, holistic, omniscient, 360-degree perspective experience. It was not cognitive at all. It was this experience of a holistic, spherical, omniscient meeting of the question with the answers And so I thought, “Wow, every question could be answered like this.”
There’s infinite abundance, and there’s no more questions, so there’s no lack, and it’s just complete contentment So there’s no sense of time or space. I have no idea how long that lasted, but eventually there was this voice And then the thought arises that, oh, there’s a Qigong teacher in San Francisco teaching a Qigong class. Oh, there’s a lady named Edith Chan sitting in the Qigong class practicing there. And then it’s like, maybe, maybe this it should return to that it So that thought came, it was like, “Hmm, what an absurd thing to have trillions of pieces of love and light densify itself back into a physical density form.” That experience was so strange and almost, like, painful to do As soon as it landed though, it was so much, so many sensations simultaneously that it was uncontrollable avalanches of tears and tears and tears that just gushes down and gushes down and gushes down.
And it took s- a few years before I was able to even find words to articulate that it was this clashing of intense love and gratitude and appreciation, so much gratitude that I got to go home and return to our natural state and remember who and what we really are, what our natural state actually is. And then this confusion and grief and sadness, like, what? Wait a minute, this place is all done backwards and upside down. It was an instant recognition when I came back. There are so many lies, and there are so many things, false limitation programs, and it’s like this weird backwards upside down place that we’ve created here. What is going on? So I felt really confused for a few years after that. I was high-functioning. I still went to grad school, had my part-time jobs, and I had a body work practice that I was building. I did all the things as a high-functioning human being, but inside I was in this deep, deep process of, of sorting it out.
Like, if this is the true nature, so much purity of love, wisdom, contentment, and peace, how is it that we’re in this reality with so much war and strife and pain and suffering? And it created something like a, a feeling of tension within me to keep asking and to keep searching until I could bring it into congruence. So you could say that what happened that day, this was in 2003, kind of informed everything else that I’ve done ever since then. I’m grateful to say that now it’s coming full circle with this work, with the blindfolded perception, that it turns out there is a way that we can integrate, and embody this expansive consciousness state while also engage in the physical form. And in a way, I think- I needed that. After that mystical experience and subsequently a number of other mystical experiences, I felt like, “Wow, this is actually precious human experience. How can I make this human life closer and closer and closer to truth?”
Because that one day permanently recalibrated my inner compass. So I always felt this pull to what is closer to truth and repulsion against what feels further from truth. That compass was always in me, and it keeps speaking louder and louder and louder. And just following that guidance, it led to now doing this work that is, I feel, the integration. Not like doing metaphysical consciousness meditative stuff to just escape the world, but could we do it to allow it to inform us and inspire us to have a more beautiful life while in the physicality of our human bodies? How does it inform us to be better moms and dads and sisters and brothers and neighbors and business owners and whatever projects and creations that you’re creating while in your physical earthly life? Can we bring that expansive consciousness and integrate it and embody it into our physical life? So that’s a very long-winded answer to your question, but that’s kind of what inspires everything that I do.
Guy:
No, it’s beautiful. There’s actually quite a few similarities to my journey as I was listening to you and just dressed in different, di- different ways, uh, through that. So I, I totally resonate with everything you share. One of the common themes though from when I s- speak to people or with people as well, is that due to modern day and being able to listen to conversations like this and, and there’s a, there’s a, there’s a hunger for that very experience that you just spoke about, you know? But it’s almost like people just want the experience and not be where they are, if that makes sense. So there’s, there’s always this, um, searching for something, but then the presence is being left behind because they’re, they’re not here now. Um, and I just wonder what, what your thoughts are on that because it, it can feel like a chicken and egg sometimes I feel.
You know, when you have an experience like that, it really helps you embody something closer to truth. And then like you say, the radar comes on more and more that what’s in truth, what’s not in alignment, and everything that’s not in alignment with your truth just starts to fall away and that’s becomes very intentional, where sometimes we tend to sleepwalk through a lot of that or we’re in denial or we, we, we push it away. We, we sometimes we’re more fearful of the truth and yet we run away wanting the absolute truth, if that makes sense.
Dr. Edith:
Yeah, I think the cards are probably stacked in our favor because eventually life has a way of kinda like smacking you back into your, your aligned path, you know? So, um, so a- at some point it becomes too uncomfortable, and I think this time right now with everything changing so fast that we can’t get away with not the work of bringing this, these beautiful philosophies that we talk about on all these podcasts. We can’t get away with just talking about it. We have to embody it and live it, otherwise good luck with your life, you know? You get… Anything that is, like, not stable or wobbly in your life, it will come to the surface and show itself. We have to face, face our lives.
Guy:
Hmm. When you made that decision to leave your corporate career, if you like, your software career and move, you know, when you had that realization, it was like you had that moment and then, you know, there was… And you said it took 10 years for your family to accept, and there’s a lot of challenges that come with that, but that was the courageous, bold, brave decision to make because it was aligned with what you felt in your heart and soul. But yet that decision is so terrifying. It can be. I don’t know if it was for you, but… And that’s the, uh, I feel they are the things, uh, in our lives that we, we move away from as opposed to knowing that the, the, the, what’s the word I’m looking for? Also, the, the, the, the alchemical change within us is that it’s in those moments that begin to happen. That’s where our, our growth and evolution continues to happen. But I feel it can be so challenging for so many people to get beyond that, to really lean into that. How did you have the courage to do that at that point? ‘Cause you hadn’t had the experience by then.
Dr. Edith:
Yeah. Uh, I, I, I wish I had a simple answer for this, guy, but I think there’s value to that inner turmoil and struggle, too. So I, I am humbled by the question, and I don’t have a good answer because I think the, the, um, going through our inner turmoil and struggle, eventually there’s an alchemical process that c- that gets refined in that internal work that we put ourselves through to come to the place of clarity. So I really trust that everybody is gonna unlock at the perfect time that is just exactly divinely orchestrated for their path, you know? Um, and it was not easy for me, and I had to face a lot of my own doubts and fears constantly. somehow has a way of showing you through synchronicities. For example, when I was just about to start Chinese medicine school, I was young and reckless.
I hadn’t saved up a bunch of money for my budding software career. You know, I didn’t have children back then, so I could get away with it. Now that I have children, you, you, you wanna make some sensible choices, right? At that time, I just cold turkey quit my job. I had very little savings, and I looked at my bank account. I was like, “How am I going to be a starving graduate student in San Francisco? How is this gonna work?” Suddenly I realized I’d made maybe a poor choice, kind of a brash decision. I was going to visit a friend of mine, getting takeout at this restaurant. Exactly in that moment, really stressed out about this, like, “What have I just done?” Should I go back to software? You know, I was having that moment. then I’m getting Thai food, and the very kind gentleman said, “Okay, enjoy your food.” And he gave, gives me his food. that same moment, somebody taps me on the shoulder here. look, and it was a kind-looking man, and he says, “Look, you dropped your money.”
I was like, “I didn’t drop any money.” I looked down on the ground, and it was five crisp $100 bills on the ground, which was a lot of money back then in 2002 or whatever when this was happening. Or 2001. Yeah, end of 2001, beginning of 2002. I don’t remember the exact date, but, you know, do some inflation calculations. That’s a lot of money just sitting on the ground. I pick it up, and I hold it like this, and the kind Thai restaurant person, he smiles in his very kind Thai way, and I was like… It was like he didn’t see that I’m holding a bunch of crisp $100 bills in my hand. He’s just like, “Okay, enjoy your day.” And I’m dumbfounded.
My jaw is, like, on the ground. I’m looking at this. I go to my friend’s house, I said, “Look, I found this on the ground.” Oh, before that, when I looked behind me, the gentleman that tapped me on the shoulder, vanished. And it was one of those doors at the restaurant where you, when you open and close there’s a little bell like ding, ding. There was no ding that I could, that would alert me that he had walked out. He literally just vanished So I go to my friend’s house and I say, “I found this on the ground.” And he said, “Oh, maybe somebody dropped it that isn’t you. You should call.” I called the restaurant and I said, “This is my phone number.
If somebody’s asking for this, have them call me.” Nobody ever called. So that began the first of a sequence of strange synchronicities. Every time I had doubts, something weird like that would happen, the perfect person would show up when the, when I’m grappling with something. And it’s just been synchronicity after synchronicity after synchronicity. And whenever I bump my head in the wall trying to kind of deviate from my path, I’ve noticed that the synchronicities go away. Whenever I have … I, I, I attune ask, like, “Show me, show me. Guide me back to the path that is for me, that is for my purest and highest good, and that is for the purest and highest good of the collective. Show me how to attune and align myself in this way,” then the synchronicities would start flooding in. I’ve come to just use that, just like the blindfold vision. When my windows of perceptions are open, I know I’m in my coherent flow state. shows synchronicities to me to show me when I’m in my super coherent flow state with life, co-creating with life, you know?
Guy:
So the more coherent– So the take-home there is the more coherent you are within yourself, the more coherent your external reality is gonna mirror that coherence within you
Dr. Edith:
That seems to be my experience.
Guy:
I, it’s, that’s, that’s simp- to me, that’s … I, I need simplicity in my life. Like, I, I don’t technical things, but that’s what’s definitely shown for me, for sure. The more, the more I find myself when I’m in balance and not, not in balance, the, the outer world’s reflecting it at the same time, for sure
Dr. Edith:
I, can I, can I kind of get into some nuance with your audience
Guy:
Please. Yeah, yeah, yeah
Dr. Edith:
much, like, love and light, rainbows and unicorns stuff in
Guy:
Mm-hmm
Dr. Edith:
consciousness space that, that I want to also honor the, the turmoil and the struggle that we sometimes go through. But you can tell when it’s, like, is aligned on your path. To go through the alchemical journey, the initiation process, you can tell there’s a different feeling state versus you’re just stupidly not listening to your own intuitive guidance and, and deviating from your path and, you know. Like, you could… There’s a different quality when it’s, like, purposeful inner struggle versus just struggle. Can… Am I making sense?
Guy:
A thousand percent. I, I’m going through it right now in my own journey. That, that, that of you speak of. Another version of it is being birthed a- at the moment, and there’s challenges that come with that, and the inner turmoil and feeling, you know? But I, I look at it like the lobster, you know, that outgrows its shell, and it’s in that, that rub of the discomfort. You know, we, we step outside of our shell, we feel vulnerable, raw, and unprotected in some ways and, and then the container continues to grow. That’s how I kind of see it in the back of my mind as these things happen, you know. But yeah, it totally makes sense.
Dr. Edith:
what I love about the, um, the work that we do, especially with the adult work, with the blindfold perception trainings, is that we, we use all of those as opportunities to, to learn about ourselves, to turn it into self-awareness cultivation. Because we discovered that when I’m running certain limitation programs, my perception abilities with the blindfold perception goes down. When I let go of that and drop into my inner coherence state, it increases. The same with the spoon bending or the sticking things on the wall or the telekinesis. So then, at the end of the day, after an experience like that, had too many different facts that we’ll have to face, or the same patterns that we might be running will show up over and over again, whether we’re doing blindfold to seeing, blindfold to hearing, blindfold to touch sense, bending a spoon, telekinesis, sticking things on the wall, and I don’t wanna give away all the other fun, magical, uh, games that we play.
But what people discover is like, oh, I keep running into the same pattern, the same narrative, the same old programming, the same mindset limitation keeps popping up regardless of which activity. So why don’t I joyfully and lovingly let that go, and how can I bring the version of myself that, that has deleted that program into how I engage with life? many people say these trainings is actually not even about the blindfold vision or the mindsight. This last retreat we just had, we had the most beautiful shares where people said, “This is so much more than mindsight or blindfold training. This is self-awareness training. This is inner coherence training. This is oneness training,” ’cause we experience our access to the field of possibilities and our telepathic communication with each other.
You know, this is about, some people call it this is leadership training for those of us that are choosing to build a more beautiful new earth. You know? So, so we’re in this time now where we have so many beautiful tools to support us in entering into, in rebirthing ourselves into a more beautiful version of what a human being can actually be. So I call, I call this the, the new luminous human. We’re all glowing brighter and brighter and brighter, and we’re shedding those old shells and layers as you speak, Guy. And it’s, I feel so blessed to be on the kinda cutting-edge frontiers of these explorations together with people like you, Guy.
Guy:
Well, and like we were speaking off air, you, you– just for the listeners, you never know that we’ll get you over here in Australia, and maybe we can do something over here in time as well. That would be absolutely phenomenal
Dr. Edith:
Oh my gosh, there’s so many beautiful soul family friends that are in Australia. And, um, in our children’s program we have a, a lot of Australians, like wonderful families and the most pure-hearted souls in Australia. So I think the time is coming for us to travel to visit with you
Guy:
K- kind of, kind of come down under. Uh, just to, just to wrap up the show, what, what have you… Have you got trainings coming up, uh, at all for the, for people to be aware of? What’s coming up for the, the rest of 2026?
Dr. Edith:
Yeah, for those that are feeling called to the children and families program, our kids program, we have, um, and October we’ll have another six-week sequence of kids and family training. We call that our level one training now ’cause we have some additional more advanced trainings that we’re offering to the alumni and graduates of our level one training. So Ava and Guy, please join us for some of the advanced trainings
Guy:
We’ll be there
Dr. Edith:
Yeah. Um, so but for the level one kids training in September and October, we’ll have another six-week cycle, so you can check that out. For the adult training, um, we call this the adult blindfold perception training retreats, but actually it’s so much more than the blindfold work as we’ve just shared before. So the adult trainings, we have a level one training in Austin, Texas back to back with a level two training in Austin, Texas. That is September 17th through whatever is a week later. It’s like each of those are three-day retreats. And then in November we’ll have another adult retreat in California, in northern California. And there are a couple other ones that we’re working on setting up that I’m not ready to announce yet, so please stay tuned with those.
And also, I have ongoing Qigong meditation We have a membership, um, every Thursday evening for us in America, so it’d be on Fridays for you guys in your part of the world, where we gather live to do Qigong practices and meditations. And, and those are all recorded, so anyone that joins us for that, they can join live, but they can also listen to a library of hundreds of other meditations that we’ve, we’ve, um, collected in our
Guy:
Cultivated.
Dr. Edith:
of
Guy:
Yeah
Dr. Edith:
So yeah, there’s a lot of fun stuff that we offer. Um, my website is dr Edithabuntu.com, and I trust that that’s gonna be in the show notes. But if you guys are specifically curious about the blindfold perception you can go to blindfold.vision. So http://blindfold.vision will jump you just to that part of my website that has that work. I’m gonna be launching a book later this year about all of
Guy:
Holy moly
Dr. Edith:
um, we’re in conversations with some really beautiful colleagues that have been so blown away, so moved, so shaken into their core that we have these world-class, um, colleagues that are coming on board in conversations about how to, um, how to build up this mission, this body of work. So I’m launching a 501[c][3] nonprofit to do some fundraising, and we’re putting together the book project, some media projects, some mini documentaries. There’s a lot of exciting things in the works because the time is now for this kind of, education to ripple out into the world. So I’m really grateful to, to, to share with your audience. We’re just, like, right at that tipping point of a huge explosion of consciousness happening.
Guy:
Yeah, I believe so too. Wow, so inspiring. Thank you for everything that you’re doing. It, it’s having an impact on, on my life and our lives directly as well, so it’s deeply appreciated. And I have no doubt everyone that’s still listening to this podcast is blown away and will, will jump, jump on board and wanna learn more. But, uh, Dr. Edith, thank you so much. Thank you for everything that you’re doing. It’s, it’s truly beautiful
Dr. Edith:
Thank you so much, Guy, and it was such a delight, such a joy sharing this magical journey with your girl. You’re so beautiful the way that you’re with Ava, so thank you so much for sharing with us
Guy:
No, thank you. Yeah, no, we got a good little relationship. She’s just growing up too fast. I’m like, “No, it’s, it’s just a, just, it’s amazing. What a journey.” I feel blessed. I feel blessed. Thank you, Edith
Dr. Edith:
Thank you
